Geoff te Braake SJ
I took first vows as a Jesuit brother in September 2012 after a two year novitiate. I feel called to commit my life to finding out where God is sending me to serve the Kingdom of God in the Society of Jesus. At the moment that mostly takes the form of studying philosophy and theology at Heythrop College. I take part in some of the college chaplaincy events and was part of a new initiative in my community to grow vegetables in our garden.
For several years I had the feeling that I did not want to continue working as a software developer for the rest of my career; but wanted to ‘help people’. Several things began to point in the direction of religious life. After struggling with this for some time I came to accept that God might be calling me to live this way. After I met a Jesuit brother I felt that this was the vocation I should explore and after some exploration, which included visiting Jesuit communities, I realised that I could not get rid of the feeling but had to follow it up by applying to the Jesuits.
