Conference on Global Solidarity
Heythrop College in London is hosting a Day Conference tomorrow that will explore the moral and philosophical questions associated with globilisation. The Conference will combine the publication of two books on the subject, published by Bloomsbury Publishing, including one by Dr Patrick Riordan SJ, who teaches political philosophy at Heythrop.
‘Good Life on a Global Scale’ will focus on two main themes: solidarity and global common goods. They are addressed in the first two volumes of the new book series ‘Bloomsbury Studies in Global Ethics’; the second volume is edited by Janusz Salamon who will also be taking part in the Conference. Dr Riordan’s book, ‘Global Ethics and Global Common Goods’ will form the basis for his presentation tomorrow afternoon when he asks: What can we learn about our common goods from our common bads?
