Gerard Gallen SJ
My name is Gerard Gallen, S.J. I joined the Jesuits in 1991.
I first encountered the Jesuits at Craighead Retreat Centre near Glasgow. The first Jesuit I met was Fr. Michael Kyne (R.I.P.) and he introduced me to St. Ignatius who introduced me to a new way of praying, enabling me to feel closer to Christ. I have been and remain inspired by so many fellow Jesuits living varied lives with a unique spirit.
My missions have included chaplain/teacher at Wimbledon College and St. Aloysius College, Glasgow. Since May of 2013 I have been the full time chaplain to St. Joseph’s Hospice, in Hackney, London. The Hospice (which has a long association with the Jesuits) provides excellent end of life care and is a place that is full of life!
