What would Pope Francis do? A fascinating new talk

The Pope's biographer gives his take on the social justice teaching of Pope Francis

“I often find myself drawn to a thing that Francis does or says which might seem a little bit perplexing or counter-cultural or startling. I often find myself thinking, well why is he reacting in that way, and in investigating that, in looking into that, I find myself often realising that he of course is modelling himself on Jesus.”

Austen Ivereigh is a UK-based Roman Catholic journalist, author, commentator, and biographer of Pope Francis. His latest book, Wounded Shepherd: Pope Francis and His Struggle to Convert the Catholic Church (2019) is available in all good book shops.

Austen’s talk was given as part of a new series of Lent talks at the Edinburgh Jesuit Centre. To watch the talk in full (which is 58 minutes long), please click here
