Director’s Message: What’s New for 2024/2025

Fr David Birchall SJ

Director, London Jesuit Centre

We’re excited to announce that for the 2024/2025 academic year, the London Jesuit Centre has finally opened its doors to all. We now have wheelchair access and work in redeveloping the building has come to an end.

This year, we are offering an expanded array of events, courses and retreats across Ignatian Spirituality, Theology, Philosophy, Scripture, and Environmental and Social Justice. Whether you're new to these topics or looking to deepen your understanding, our programmes are aimed to engage anyone with a general interest in the Christian faith.

Some of our courses, usually under the banner of the Heythrop Institute, are for those who have some background in theology, such as clergy and teachers of the Faith.

Additionally, our central London facilities are now available for hire by compatible groups and welcomes overnight stays in our newly appointed en-suite bedrooms.

We strive to offer something for everyone, so do check us out.

Course Highlights:

Here are a few of the offerings that we’re particularly excited about this year:

Guided Prayer Online: Each session introduces a method of prayer, participants will be guided through the prayer, with space for silence to enter more deeply into it, and a chance to share and reflect upon each other's experience.

Jesus Christ: Past, Present and Future: Take a sustained look at Jesus, and what Christian believe about him: What does it mean to claim that Jesus – a human – was God? How should Christians understand the thought that the Church – is the ‘body’ of Christ?

Literature and Theology: Explore new ways of reading stories through the lens of theology, exploring some key concerns of the Christian theological tradition: sin, faith, prayer and personhood.‍

These courses, along with many others, are designed to be not only educational but also deeply enriching, offering opportunities for both personal growth and community collaboration.
