Jesuit schools celebrate strong results

Students at UK Jesuit Schools have celebrated very strong results this summer

Blog by Andrew Johnson, Delegate for Jesuit Education

At GCSE the results are well above the national average in all the schools. The GCSE results at St Ignatius College, Enfield, were a particular highlight, where students achieved 38% 9-7 grades (formerly A*-A).

At A level, Wimbledon College students achieved an impressive 60% A*-B, while the average points score for IB Diploma students at Stonyhurst College was 35 points (equivalent to 3 A grades at A level).

Jesuit schools in Britain offer a wide array of qualifications to suit the needs of their students. As well as A levels, GCSEs, Highers and Advanced Highers (at St Aloysius College in Glasgow), Stonyhurst College offers the IB Diploma and both Mount St Marys College and Stonyhurst offer CTEC vocational qualifications.

Jesuit schools promote academic excellence as part of their wider mission to develop students’ full human potential, taking Jesus Christ as their companion and model.

Pastoral care and co-curricular programmes are very strong in Jesuit schools. In line with Catholic Social Teaching, the schools have particularly well developed programmes for voluntary service, and international links and exchanges.
